Is it feasible to travel by taxi daily to the border, cross on foot, and take the trolley to SD for work? Then do the opposite coming back? What would be the costs associated? Thanks.

A lot of people cross the border this way to work every day, but usually from within Tijuana, not from Rosarito. And I wouldn't do it by taxi. That would be pretty expensive (sorry, I don't have a current price quote for you - but it ain't cheap. Gas is pricey.)

If you won't have a car and you're going to attempt this from Rosarito, plan to do it by bus, or one of those minibuses (small, stripped out VW vans) which travel a very defined route. Even better would be if you could find someone to carpool with.

But this would be a darn long commute. The drive to Rosarito is about 45 minutes, then you'd have to wait in line at the border (which is usually at least an hour), and then you'd have the trolley ride into San Diego.
If you're thinking of attempting this, I'd suggest looking for a place closer to the border - say in the Playas area at least. My dad used to do this. But he drove his own car and timed his commute to start after the morning bottleneck at the border.

There could be 2 offenses that would desire to bite your pal interior the butt. Swiping his California identity could verify his call and date of delivery against an excellent style of records. There could be particularly some "hits" for comparable names with the same date of delivery, or the same call with a relatively distinctive date of delivery, or comparable names without date of delivery. And there could additionally be a experience for him, as a until eventually now deported alien. The officer there'll see if he's any of those fits. With a sprint success, they are going to catch him, and he will finally end up being back. it relatively is the ordinary area. If he makes a "fake declare to US citizenship," it relatively is a separate offense that would desire to consequence in a extra sanction, no longer in basic terms a trifling deportation. they could positioned him in a federal lock-up, and then he'd be deported besides. it is submit 9/11 we live in. no person takes their activity extra heavily than CBP officers on the international's busiest border crossing, with over 3,000,000 crossings a month. Your pal desires to return back? Get an criminal expert and write a waiver for his deportation. Oh, one extra undertaking- don't get entangled in this scheme. do no longer pass with him, do no longer tell the CBP officer which you recognize he's a US citizen, that he lives with you interior the U. S., that he lost his US passport whilst the two one among you have been on the bullring, or something the two silly. superb of success!
