This question sounds VERY familiar... it got pretty much the same answers last time it was asked. I agree with the advice you've gotten do far. Rent does not match up. Also, you don't say what role you want so it's hard to make any suggestions.
Also, I don't understand why you need to present a monologue for this to be honest with you. The directors should sing you, dance you, then have you read from the script. It seems like a waste of time to have everyone present monologues.

There is only on major speaking part in RENT, which is the eulogies that the cast members give for Angel. I have seen this used this as a monologue before. It is spoken by different characters, therefore you have to be able to quickly change from one to another. It takes a very skilled actor to be able to pull that off correctly. I have seen it done.
I do think that RENT is totally different than Bye Bye Birdie and that you should try to find a better monologue and memorize it (since you will have to memorize lines, cues and stage directions if you get cast) Good luck!

There are not many choices of sections for monologues or dialogs from "Rent" depending on whether you are male or female here are a couple possible ones. However if you are not good at memorizing lines perhaps you should focus the most on your singing audition for the show as you might want to aim for the chorus where you won't have to worry so much about memorizing lines.
MARK
We begin on Christmas Eve with me,
Mark, and my roommate, Roger.
We live in an industrial loft on the corner of 11th street and
Avenue B, the top floor of what was once a music publishing factory.
Old rock 'n' roll posters hang on the walls.
They have Roger's picture advertising gigs
at CBGB's and the Pyramid Club. We have an
illegal wood burning stove; its exhaust pipe crawls
up to a skylight.
All of our electrical appliances are plugged into one thick extension
cord which snakes its way out a window. Outside, a small tent city
has sprung up in the lot next to our building.
Inside, we are freezing because we have no heat.

MAUREEN
Last night, I had a dream
I found myself in a desert called Cyberland
It was hot
My canteen had sprung a leak and I was thirsty
Out of the obis walked a cow, Elsie
I asked if she had anything to drink she said
”I am forbidden to produce milk,
In Cyberland we only drink Diet Coke (coke…coke…coke)
She said
“Only thing to do is just over the moon”
They've closed everything real down
Like barns and troths and...
Performance Spaces
And replaced it all with lies and rules and
Virtual Life... But there is a way out
Leap of faith, leap of faith, leap of faith, leap of faith
Only thing to do is jump over the moon
I gotta get outta here
It's like i'm being tied to the hood of
a yellow rental truck being packed in with fertilizer and fuel oil pushed over a cliff by a suicidal mickey mouse
I gotta gotta gotta gotta gotta gotta gotta gotta gotta gotta gotta gotta gotta gotta gotta gotta gotta gotta find a way...
to jump over the moon

"Rent" is entirely sung. There are no monologues to choose from, sorry. Also, it is completely different in style from "Bye Bye Birdie", so it probably wouldn't work very well even if there were monologues for you to use.

Most of them are sung, if you need to sing for the audition, there a re tons to choose from. Maybe you could write your own monologue with a Rent theme.

There isn't really a long enough monologue in RENT.
You could try speaking "Halloween" or "Over the Moon".

I don't think there are many monologues in Rent... they're mostly sung.
