Can somebody please help me in finding a website as to where a country or region started a war over trying to rebuild and claim the land that was once owned by the Byzantine and/or Roman Empires? Preferably this war would have happened in the past 300 years, thanks.. pretty sure i remember hearing it somewhere but thats not good enough in a report

Trying to conquer the world of some sort would work aswell, just as long as their goal was more or less world domination... a website stating it would really help aswell

There are many:

1. Charles V: Holy Roman Emperor who ruled one of the largest world-empires in history upon his death consisting of most of the Americas and a giant chunk of Europe, including countries you would be surprised to learn he controlled. Loved the idea of a Catholic/universal Christian empire.

2. Louis XIV: French king who modelled himself on the god Apollo and adopted a flamboyant, Greco-Roman autocratic ruling style. His final years were marked by the War of Spanish Succession, where the fate of Europe hung in the balance (if victorious, he would have controlled almost all of Europe).

3. Napoleon Bonaparte: The incredible man who rose from petty Sardinian aristocracy to control a giant world empire before getting banished to islands (Twice! He escaped once). He created laws based on the Roman civil code and modelled himself on Roman emperors.

4. Benito Mussolini: He attempted to reform the Roman Empire by conquering parts of North Africa, refurbishing Augustus' mausoleum and the Ara Pacis and building a giant processional avenue in the Roman Forum. His ideology of fascism was based on ideas related to Roman autocracy.

5. Adolf Hitler: He attempted to form a universal empire based on race and very nearly succeeded in occupying the whole of the former Roman Empire (though not all of it). He is also considereda fascist and adopted autocratic ruling styles.

There are others, but these (and particularly the less famous first two suggestions) should be good. There were also people who tried to create governments based on republican ideals, for better or for worse, but I take it you were interested in the more autocratic, monarchic side of things with your question.

Napoleon Bonaparte to some extent tried to base his empire on the basis of the Roman Empire. You might search around some and see if he fits your need.

Well, Italy under Mussolini had some ideas of that nature.

The "Holy Roman Empire" controlled much of the European area that the Romans did.
