I skipped a period in October and went for a pregnancy test which came up as negative. Then 18 days ago, I got my period and I still am on it, and I'm bleeding heavily. I'm waiting to get into see the dr, but in the meantime, I'm worried and wondering what could be going on. I used to get really heavy periods but those have gone away, and I'm not sure if this is because I skipped a period or not. I know that some of the medications I'm on (for bipolar disorder and thyroid problems) can cause me to skip periods, but I don't know if skipping the periods means I'll end up with a heavy non stop flow that won't end. If anyone has any suggestions, ideas, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks:)

Sorry but you could actually be having a miscarriage. You definitely need to call your doctor because your period should not last 18 days. Good luck and God bless!

I am not a doctor or anything, but two of my girlfriends that is only 100 poundish, seem to have no period for month or two and a long LIGHT one for a week or two, and there I nothing wrong with their health. I think you should see a doctor and don't over think. Maybe your body is under a lot of stress, I just think the real person to help with this is a doctor because its still heavy. When I went to yaz for a strange reason my period was two weeks long the first month, and was told to keep taking it cause I am doing something new. I wish you the best for your health and hope everything is okay.... but if you cut yourself and you are still bleeding a day or so after, you need to push to have your appointment as soon you can!

I'd have been on the phone to the doctor at day 14, they shouldn't last longer than 10 days.

Call the doctor asap.

sometimes with you worrying about it can stress you out alot i had bad periods before and they lasted for months and my doctor told me i was i having a non ovulation period and he put me on birth control pills to regulate me so it might not be as bad as what you think it is the best thing is to wait and see you doctor for a diagnosis

I had 10-14 day heavy periods 3 months in a row, but my doc didn't seem too concerned... they're back to 6 days now (not including the spotting /sigh. http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ak34j6G_MRn22aIPEg4D5yDhFwx.;_ylv=3?qid=20071211133846AA2AaH8)

you shouldn't worry too much..once i had my period for like 3 weeks.. and then everything went back to normal...sometimes our bodies can react differently to different circumstances..you could've have been under too much stress or had a different emotional stage..just dont worry too much it'll be over soon
