I have been on SS disability for about 6 years. I was under the impression that children of disabled persons can also receive a check that is a certain percentage of what the disabled parent receives. I inquired a few times and was told that my child wasn't eligible because I was receiving all that I could get, and that maybe if my disability check was more, then the child could receive one as well. I don't understand this since I know so many people whose children received checks due to their disabled parent. One in particular is a man who claimed he has 8 children, only 3 of them ever lived with him, and when he got his disability, each of those 8 grown children received several thousand dollars in back pay. What exactly are the rules here? Thanks.

Excuse me, but I did work...I just happened to have had a very bad thing happen to me at the age of 23, and I eventually recovered enough to go back to work but, unfortunately, I am no longer employed. I am still disabled due to this chronic condition, making every day a struggle. The welfare comments are not appreciated.
