My father passed away a little less than two years ago.Since then, she has hired this RAT to come in and remodel her kitchen and install new hardwood floors. But he's all talk. I am the only one who is home while he works. If he shows up, it's not until 3 or 4pm and either works for an hour or two or he comes over for 2minutes and then says he has to go return something at Home Depot. This usually takes him a few hours to do, I'm not sure why.Oddly enough he lives right by Home Depot and he could very easily take whatever it is with him at night and return it next day.The only time he actually does work is when he is putting in something big that everyone can see. My mom made the mistake and paid him upfront and since then he has shown up with a brand new truck, a diamond watch and he's recently bought his girlfriend (who dates sugardaddies online for money) an engagement ring.Hes taking advantage of her and her situation and someone needs to stop him but I don't know how.

Something like that happened to my mom. You need to get a lawyer and if possible get power of attorney. Once the contractor knew he had to go through me to get any money he stopped coming around to "repair things". I would try to get some of the money back if your mom was scammed by this guy. Get a lawyer to see what you can do.

What an awful situation for you and your mother to be in, don't you have any family members you can talk to in confidence? at the very least you are going to have to sit down with your mother and talk to her calmly, tell her you are deeply concerned about the decisions she is making, maybe if you point out the facts to her, she might open her eyes, she is probably still grieving the death of your father, and is not seeing thing's as clearly as she otherwise would, I'm sorry I don't know what else to tell you, but I do wish you all the luck in the world.

Since he has already been paid, not much you can do. Perhaps talk to the Building Code office to see if he is licensed to do the work. If he isn't, any work that required permits would need to be redone if the house is sold and a Home Inspector notices it. Even then, you would need to get the money back.

What was the purpose of telling us that his gf dates sugar daddies online? Is that relevant to your mom? Why would she pay him so much money he could buy a new truck and diamond watch to do remodeling? And especially up front? How much is that? $40-$50,000? LOL!
