Not anyone personally, no. I volunteer with the Red Cross working with HIV/AIDS infected people though.

You possibly do too. Over 42 million people worldwide are living with HIV (the virus which can lead to AIDS). In the UK 70,000 people are living with the virus, and approx. 30% of these don't even know they've got it because they haven't been tested (figures estimated from anonymous routine tests done on blood samples of non-HIV patients in hospitals) .
AIDS comes at the latter stages of HIV infection, when the immune system is so weak it cannot fight off infection.
There are approx. 29 common things like pneumonia, candidiasis, herpes, lymphoma, TB, some cancers etc. that are categorised as AIDS defining illnesses. You don't need to have HIV/AIDS to have these complaints.

At this time I do not know any one personally who has AIDS. If any of my friends do, they have not told me about it.

No, but I know two people well who have been infected with the HIV virus. HIV + and AIDS are different stages. Not everyone who is HIV+ has "AIDS".
