I do think that some people in society, particularly men with long hair are stereotyped as hippies, dirty, lazy, whatever... it's unfortunate. As for me, I like hair on a man.
My hair is in waves that sometimes develop into loose curls, I have it in layers that start with my bangs, down to mid-back.
I don't use products on my hair, only wash with organic shampoo/conditioner, and a weekly conditioner that consists of organic coconut oil.
Whenever I blow-dry it straight (which is not often), I do use about half a dime of beeswax, smooth it on my hands and pat the ends of my layers, to maintain them protected after heat application. And I trim the ends myself on a monthly basis (my hair grows fast).
That's about it.

A pompadour, 6" in the front, graduated from front to back, tapered on the sides to a beveled arch and tapered in the back to a box-cut nape. (I cut it myself)
It says I am neat and clean and rather traditional when it is swept back into waves and rather retro when it's standing up as a pile of curls.
(I also frequently use pomade/hair wax/grooming cream to control frizz, get definition, and impart some shine. But sometimes I just use a light spray in leave-in conditioner or sculpting spray gel when I want it to look neat but don't want it to look like there's "product".)
I believe it says that I am conservative but also have a sense of style of my own that is "hip" in a retro way. And it says that I have fairly traditional ideas about masculine appearance and grooming.
On women, I love either short cuts that frame the face and have playful texture or a headful of curls. Long straight or wavy hair isn't a thing for me like with many guys, though I wouldn't say it's unattractive. I think women's hair reflects individual preference and doesn't send much message either way anymore.

What it says about Raj's attitude to women!!!!
One day I can be marriage material, the next a lesbian! And yet I am the same person - how can it be?
My hair is as long as it will grow, which is not very long as it just doesn't - it about 18" now. I can't get it cut cos I have head lice and I can't get rid of them because my hair is long - it's a vicious circle!
I love long hair on men - I like the look, and the statement it makes. I fell in love with a man with waist length hair a few months ago, to no avail!!

Mine is down to the middle of my back. What does this say about me? Well, maybe that I like my hair? LOL I do wear a lot of long skirts, and my husband says that my long-but-natural hair seems to "go" with the clothes I wear. My hair and my clothing are both feminine but simple and not trendy. I guess that's probably how I'd describe myself in general - not into trends or status, but enjoying being a woman. So I guess you're right about that.

My hair is the middle of my back. It's a stereotype about men, but most men, including my boyfriend like long hair. However, I have long hair because I had to keep it short as a child because I have so much hair. It's my way of rebelling against my childhood.
But I think long hair on women may imply they like to have "fun", but it could mean they're Pentacostal, where they never cut their hair.

Chin-length. Angled, shorter in the back.
Hair length says absolutely nothing about a person except for maybe an insight into their personal sense of style.

The only thing it says to me is how much time the person is willing (or not) to spend on styling their hair and perhaps how much $$ too, since elaborate styles or something like highlights can be costly.
PS- my hair is very short, partly due to laziness and partly since it's thin so there's not much there to play with.

my hair was short for years. after having my son, i've kinda gotten into this i want-to-look-as-womanly as possible thing. so, i'm growing it out. i guess since the rest of my body has become more curvy and full, i wanted my hair to match? it's currently past my chin. all it says about me is that i was ready for a change. my boyfriend loved my short hair, he is still getting used to the longer do.

Layered, middle of my back (always worn up).
It used to be that men had short hair and women had long hair, but I don't think that's the consensus now. No, I don't think the length of your hair says anything about you.

It's a ways past my shoulders. And I do think we, as a society, view hair length a certain way. We see women with short hair as butch or tomboyish, while a woman with long hair is seen as girly and elegant.
