I've done the pre-med thing start to finish, did grad school and even taken the MCAT and applied to med school.

Pre-med is NOT easy, and if you're weak of heart, it'll destroy your soul.

Now is the time to think really hard about how badly you want to do this. Looking back, I call tell you: Frosh year was cake compared to the hell I've been through. but y'know what? I bit down hard and kept trying.

Does trying really hard entitle you to get into med school? NO it does not. So you have to realize that even if you suffer really hard and do all the things you're supposed to do, you might still not make it. The disappointment hurts, but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger -- and smarter if you learned anything at all in your courses.

When I was in college, half the frosh were pre-med. By third year, that number dropped precipitously. And after that? Well, a lot of us are doing different things.

For what it's worth, I went to one of the best universities in the country. I had an MCAT score that was in the 85th percentile. And I went on to do a masters degree at another top-notch school. I've still been rejected from med school left and right, so I'll probably have to go back to school and take more classes. If you want it badly enough, you will do what you have to to achieve it.

YUP! it's exhausting....but you better get used to it. We're only freshman, and it's only going to get harder.
