For my first semester of college I'm getting all A's and one C. The C is due to my negligence of the class. It wasn't hard, and I didn't go to the class. I missed in-class quizzes, so it has brought my grade way down. It's only an elective, and I have learned my lesson early on. Should I be as upset as I am?

If you have a 15 hour load and each class is equal hours then this C is the difference between a 4.0 and the 3.5 you're about to get.

You should indeed be upset (at yourself because you know you could have done better) but hopefully you've learned from it.

Something to remember for the next two semesters - the more hours you accumulate, the less impact a grade has on your GPA. Right now, each class is 1/4 or 1/5 of your GPA. By the time you graduate, each class is only 1/40 of your GPA. If you can wrap the first year of college with a GPA over 3.5 then there's a high likelihood that you can graduate near there as well. Your friends that think they can slack off this year and fix it later are going to awaken sadly as the figure this out.

You should be upset you didnt put very much effort into that class. It would have been as easy A if you were in class.

Just make sure that you not let that happen again and go on to next semester a little wiser. Great job on all the A's though.

I don't understand why you are upset and you have admitted that you have slacked!! Didn't you know about these quizzes? and how much they would contribute to your grade? This is a lesson for you brother. Get your priorities right!

I could understand if you had worked your *** off and ended up with a C. Now that would be something to be upset about.

Be upset enough to learn your lesson, but smart enough to move on to next semester!
