I think it's twofold, personally, men who do that could be gay(closeted to the nth degree), bi-curious, or even bisexual. However, we aren't ones to determine what their sexual orientation is, THEY themselves know. Yet there are some who aren't even gay, but are repulsed by what they perceive to be unnatural behavior. Oh and homosexuality should be mainstream because it's something called civil rights, the "Marxist" and "Communist" in the media have nothing to do with it. Once again, no one is trapped into liking or accepting it, it's called equality because they're human beings like you or I, their sexual preference is different. I accept homosexuality, always have and always will, hell, I'm proud to say that I come from a state that had a governor who was gay and he publicly came out of the closet. Your last sentence reeks of hypocrisy, if you don't want to mistreat homosexuals, then practice what you preach. And yes, that means allowing gay marriage and gays to adopt whether you like it or not. You can have your personal objections to it, but for the greater good, be smart and overlook it. Oh, and it's spelled RIDICULOUS. What's wrong with allowing homosexuals to adopt anyway? Scared they're going to take something away from the infertile yuppie heterosexuals.

No. And a lot of what I see called "homophobic" really isn't. It's a term that's been overused against anybody who doesn't support everything that homosexual activists want.
I suppose that my belief that the Bible considers homosexual activity to be sinful (it does) and that I don't see any benefits or societal need for homosexual marriage would make some people on here consider me a raging hate-filled closet homosexual homophobe.
There's a lot of judgement on here, very little reason or rationality.

New research by U.S. psychologists suggests that 80 percent of men who are homophobic have secret homosexual feelings. In tests by Prof. Henry E. Adams of the University of Georgia, homophobic men who said they were exclusively heterosexual were shown gay videos. Four out of five became sexually aroused by the homoerotic imagery, as recorded by a penile circumference measuring device, (a plethysmograph). Prof. Adams's research was published as Is Homophobia associated with Homosexual Arousal? in the prestigious U.S. Journal of Abnormal Psychology, (1996, Vol. 105, no. 3, pp. 440-445). Prof. Adams says his research shows that most homophobes "demonstrate significant sexual arousal to homosexual erotic stimuli", suggesting that homophobia is a form of "latent sexuality where persons are either unaware of or deny their homosexual urges". These findings support the theories that homophobia (fear of gayness or support for antigay discrimination) is often indicative of repressed, self-loathing, homosexual feelings; and that many homophobes subconsciously use antigay attitudes as a smoke-screen to disguise their own homosexuality.

Many men use homophobic slurs, but that does not necessarily mean they are homosexual..Sure, there are probably men out there who say "Oh, thats so gay" and are (closeted) gays themselves. Being around people who use such words will most likely make you start saying those words yourself.

Sometimes people pretend to be homophobic to protect themselves. I've seen it before. I saw a clearly gay person acting like a homophobic person.

I am going to stun you here, maybe they arent homophobic at all, meaning they are not scared of it. Maybe they just disagree with it and feel they can speak out in a free country. I wouldnt run around calling people certain names but thats me. Opposing something doesnt make you scared of it.

There have been a lot of scandles about very conservative republicans who have spoken out against gays who turn out to be secretly gay. I think it's crazy in general for people to be homophobic but it's extra crazy when homosexuals are homophobic. Luckily I think our society is progressing and it is more socially acceptable to be gay.

As a gay person, I can tell you that the last thing I want is for homosexuality to be "mainstream".
Please don't confuse my wanting acceptance for some kind of command on your personal choices.
I think people who don't believe sexuality is God-given will sometimes think that we are "promoting a lifestyle".
I don't watch TV and say "Gosh, this conservative media is trying to make me like girls..."

No they are not gay. This is just the typical comment used by anyone that supports gay peoples rights. Right ot wrong , the vast majority of straight men think gay men are disgusting and we are not homophobic..

Sometimes maybe, but not always. Homophobic comments can be made out of anger because it is an easy way to go.
