i so agree with that, heard that quote some years ago, and it to me really seems true, another one i like is "you are now today becoming what you will be " ,
it is you who decide how you will be, what type character traits you will develop, what you will learn, etc etc

Precisely. Every action you take, and everything you become (whether it is directly your fault or not) is down to you. Take responsibility, better yourself, and be free. After all, everything you have read or been told is not certain. However, the consequences of actions that you ultimately witness will shape you into the person you are. Believe in yourself before any other. =oD

I think you have a point there. Each person much decide what is right or wrong and how they will live their life. If you live long enough you will make a lot of changes in attitudes over the years.

Is this a quote or your own words?

'you' have created your 'self' by using the memories of your sensory experiences. There isn't really a 'self' there other than the one you are projecting with your imagination.

There is a living being responding to incoming stimulus.

Everything else is a creation of imagination and memory.

Yes, to find yourself is to loose yourself to creativity, imagination, sacrifice, building, tearing down and polishing the never ending finished product.

i should say yes. we are creating our life each minute, by making choices.

however these choices must meet our (best) values to create the most authentic self and the best we can.

from that point of view, knowing ourselves is very useful.
