None of the candidates, Republican or Democrat, want to disolve the Union, although Ron Paul wants to make it pretty small by eliminating most government agencies and returning powers back to the states.

oh I just realized you might be talking about labor unions and not the Union of the United States, lol

Well I think the general feeling amoung Republicans is that Labor unions have a vital role to play, but they can also do a lot of damage and can hurt a company's ability to stay competitive globally. This can ultimatly come back to hurt the people who make up the union as the company is not always free to make the decisions that are best for the company in the long run.

Ironically, I recall my least favorite candidate, Mitt Romney, giving a pretty good answer to this question in one of hte debates in Michigan a couple of months ago. He basically said he supported unions that worked to help prepare its members for better jobs in the future, by promoting job skill training and continuing education (I think he mentioned the carpenter's union as an example).

As far as support for the union, I think all the candidates recognize a person's right to unionize.

Most Republicans view the Union (union of states) as the best way to preserve our national defense and constitution (basic human rights). So I'd say all of them support the Union. That doesn't mean that they all support top level federal management of everything. Conservatives in general tend to favor state's rights and smaller government as a whole based on the idea that big government tends to screw things up rather than fix them.

Republicans are against labor unions because they support exploiting people for massive profits instead, that's why the average worker needs government intervention or we'd all be working for $2.00 per hour and living on the streets. It's pretty sad that the religious right is so against equality and helping people get a fair shake.

Id say Ron Paul, Im a member of the UTU (united transportation union, im a freight conductor) and the way the government is right now i hate being apart of a union just because the government feels the need to stick their nose in our buisness, of course when they do that, everything is slowed down tremendously, and people get pay alot less then they should. I said Ron Paul because hes for smaller government, so theyd leave us alone if he was in office.

Do you mean civil union for gay couples?
None of the Republicans or for that. Maybe Giuliani but he won't admit it now.

You mean unions, like labor unions? Or the Union of the US? They all support that. Labor unions usually tend to vote Democrat.

Anyone who supports free trade agreements does not support the working man's unions, they only support the North American Union.

I love this page...a matrix on msnbc.com. It tells about each of the candidates and their stand on certain issues. If you don't see the issue you are looking for, it has a link to each of their pages.
