There has been alot of news that a new chip has been put in the xbox 360 to sort out the RRoD ( over heating ) i am looking to buy an xbox 360 and was wondering if this is true

Have they put in a new chip too sort out the overheating?
And if i was too buy one just after christmas would it have a new chip ??

Yes, they have put in a new processor called Falcon. It's both cheaper to produce and produces less heat. They started hitting shelves around September.

If you buy a 360, you may be getting a new one or an older one that's been sitting on store shelves for a while. It's hard to tell which. There are some guides on the internet with methods to determine which is which, but I don't know the method off hand.
