In such situation cross-multiply and solve the equation so obtained.

In this case: y/3 = 6/5, therefore:

5y = 18 getting y = 18/5.

That's it! You are done.

ok first you need to cross multiply, in which you do Y * 5 and 3*6 get 5y=18 now, divide 5 on both sides, and get 18/5
18/5 is your answer and in mixed number form, it is 3 and 3/5

the outers multiplied together (i.e. y and 5) must equal the inners multiplied (i.e 3 and 6) called cross product
so
5x=18
then answer is 3 3/5 or 18/5 or 3.6
