OK

sqrt(242x^6y^4) =

sqrt((2)(121)x^6y^4)=

11 x^3 y^2 sqrt2

(notes: sqrt 121 = 11; sqrt x^6 = x^3, sqrt y^4 = y^2)

Hope that helps.

11 sqrt(2) x^3 y^2

2007-12-11 13:03:10 · answer #3 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

we need to split up the expression into 3 parts

sqrt(242) x sqrt(x^6) x sqrt(y^4)

we can split up sqrt(242) into sqrt(121) x sqrt (2)

so sqrt(121) x sqrt (2)x sqrt(x^6) x sqrt(y^4)

=.....11...........xsqrt(2) x......x^3............y^2

11x^3y^2 sqrt(2)

sqrt(242x^6y^4) = sqrt(2)sqrt(121)sqrt(x^6)sqrt(y^4)

= 11x^3y^2sqrt(2)
