i keep hearing that from Bush( how credible that would be?) and his supporters( parrots)!
can you provide any evidence and/or link to support that?
or did they say that they want to wipe out Zionism out of the map? Zionism= Racism= hate=terrorist( specially when armed to the teeth and even posses nuclear weapons!)
they are not the same.
to wipe out Fascism from the map did not meant to wipe out Germany !

people of those countries that were in war or opposed Germany for sure chanted death to Germany but they didn't wipe out Germany after all! that wouldn't be a good evidence either!

Ahmadinejad -- is really not a bright man. You'd think he and Bush would be compatible in their IQ range.

As far as I recall Iran has never been an aggressor nation.

Of course they are anti-Israel. Perhaps if the US didn't always veto resolutions against Israel in the UN we'd be closer to peace in the Middle East. How would a Christian country feel if another country was continually at war with, let's say an Islamic one?

Also, when the US was backing Saddam's Iraq Saddam invaded Iran. The US had 'advisers' on the ground and the use of US spy satellites to give Saddam information about Iranian troop movements 24/7. US intelligence was well aware of Saddam's use of chemical weapons on the 'revolutionary' Kurds and the wiping out of 3,000 Iranian soldiers on Iranian soil. Iran knows that the US was culpable in this use of chemicals but the US used its 'deniability' posture and condemned the use of chemicals in word only.

Also, in the past British oil giants took control of Middle East oil and refused to pay royalties on the oil they took. Of course the Middle East countries became annoyed. One democratically elected country decided to nationalize there oil and Britain was put in a bad spot. So Britain asked for US help. The CIA came in and disposed of Mossandeq and B/A (British/American oil came into being) Things continued and now Americans are complaining about high oil prices and Middle East terrorism. US terrorism begat Middle East terrorism.

Ahmajinedad said that Israel should be wiped off the map, or words to that effect. Whether he meant it or not, who knows? He's a loudmouth, a little bit like Huge Chavez. They like to bluster, to threaten, to jibe.

This one man saying things like this should not rush the country into war. One goes to War when the country has been attacked by another country, not over a hateful phrase. Bush has tried every means possible of working up the public about Iran, in a repeat of his Iraq fiasco. Thank Heavens someone in the Intelligence Community had the courage to discover the truth.

That report was compiled from Ex-Pats and from people embedded in Iran and able to explore every nuclear site. And this time, thank God, Cheney wasn't able to call these people reporting the truth "fair game."

When a new President is elected, Republican or Democrat, the first thing he or she should do is instigate talks with Iran. I believe that, if this happens and things go well, inspections of nuclear sites will be allowed.

There is no real proof that Iran wants to wipe Israel off the map, although the animosities remain.

I have never agreed with Americas stance in the middle east.

I am not sure about the exact words he used, the only thing I am sure about is that we need to fix our own mess here in the USA before we can try to fix others.

If I lived in the middle east, anywhere in the middle east I would want as much protection as possible. If I knew that another country close to me and unfriendly to me had nuclear weapons I would want them also.
This is why I think it would be best if no country had them.
Can you imagine if Bush had decided on using something like that?

I am not saying that Iran or Israel is right. I wouldn't want to be in their place and I think America should be promoting peace not invading countries and making things worse.

According to Wikipedia, the translation is more complicated: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahmoud_Ahmadinejad_and_Israel

They state the actual translation should be:

"The Imam said that this regime occupying Jerusalem (een rezhim-e eshghalgar-e qods) must [vanish from] the page of time (bayad az safheh-ye ruzgar mahv shavad).[13]"

Still not what I would consider nice words. They certainly aren't inviting them over for some falafel. How else can you interpret that besides a direct threat to a sovereign nation?

Amadinejad said something in Farsi that translates best as Israel should be "erased from the pages of time" which is not exactly the same as "wiped off the map".

Propaganda! Of course many things are said for domestic consumption and of course we mis-translate, take them out of context and use them for our own domestic propaganda to shape public opinion.
Iran. as ancient Persia was aggressive.
