the two are not exactly related. It's more like do you fight back vs remain lenient, or do you forgive vs keep a grudge.
Your decision to forgive someone doesn't have to be related to whether or not you make the decision to fight back. Some people chose not to fight and still hold a grudge.
It's a completely different process.

Depending how bad I was hurt, I may fight but usually I just move on and forgive.

Fighting back is being lost in emotion, its a weakness. It takes much more courage to forgive. Also, fighting back has consequences, forgiveness does not. Like Ghandi says, "An eye for an eye makes people blind."

It really depends on how bad they hurt me, if it's something silly I can forgive, but if it's evil and down right dirty pool, I fight back but not in a physical manner, I have a way with words.
