The celebration of the birth of Christ. And in his honor we come together on one night and cherish the wonderful things in our lives, like our loved ones.
What's real upsetting is not so much the commercialism of it all, but even the politics of it. For example all those stores who will not say "Merry Christmas" or they refer to Christmas Trees as Holiday Trees. And people getting upset when people abbreviate and write X-Mas by saying you're taking Christ out of Christmas. NOTHING can take Christ out of Christmas for one and second if people knew a little bit of history the X in front of X-Mas started out as being a cross to signify Christ. But thru the years it was changed but NOT X-ing out Christ, it had something to do with the cross being read as a T. So the X was put in place. And the X is also part of the fish symbol.......kinda like this. <><
So anyway, politics and commercialism aside....MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL!!!

The over the top commercialism depresses me. I don't want to see Christmas decorations up November 1st.
I'm not particularly religious so to me Christmas is a time I celebrate family traditions by making my grandmother's cookie recipe, and get out my old decorations. I enjoy that my son and husband have time off so we can have some family time together. I used to like the idea of "Christmas spirit" where people were kinder and more generous at Christmas but unfortunately, I see that less and less every year.

Do you really think it's so sad that we forget the real meaning of Christmas?? As in the birth of Christ? I kind of like that it has turned into more of a celebration of a time when you get together with your families and exchange presents. This way hopefully more people who are not religious can enjoy the spirit of Christmas.

It is sad. Christmas 2 me is the joy of giving 2 others 2 make their day or life happier whether or not if they was n a bad mood. Also it's the joy of caring, receiving, being around those u love, n appreciate what life have 2 give or offer.

Yes, it is.
The real meaning to me is that it's all about family. It's a time for me to watch my kids get excited over the upcoming holiday and the thought of Santa coming and seeing the pretty lights on display everywhere I go and setting up our Christmas tree to my son's delight. I LOVE the abundant smell of pine around this time and the look on my son's face when he sees what Santa brought and gets to open gifts. It's all about bringing my family together to hang out and goof off all day long, while our kids all enjoy playing 'til they drop.

Yes it is sad.
But when people thought of the idea of christmas they never really started to think about the REAL meaning, they always thought of what they wanted the real meaning to be.
The real meaning to me is Jesus's Birthday, to celebrate when he was born, but I dont see why we get gifts and presents when it was his Bday instead of ours, but I guess it counts as the WHOLE worlds bday also.
But dont get me wrong gifts arent everything to me,
the meaning is showing love, and truth, and keeping up with family, and treating others with pure respect.
How you want to be treated.

Sitting in a cold dark room wondering why I don't have any gifts, then crying myself to sleep. Ah, Christmas cheer!
