The Democrats push burdensome, expensive social programs at the tax payer and the Republicans push tax cuts for Corporate America at the tax payer.... No real difference to the tax payer paying for it all in my opinion, we need other alternatives.

Democrats feel individuals are idiots and need to be taken care of by the government. To do this all money must be taken away by taxes and therefore dolled out by the government in the way a few leaders of the Democrat party see fit. Republicans believe in individual freedom. They feel people know more about their personal situation and local situation than the federal government. Smaller government is good.

I agree with Patrick except for the idiot part.

Democrats: typically have an agenda for liberal government more like Collectivism; from each according to his ability, to each according to his need. Bigger, more powerful government through tax payer funded programs to either assist the needy or aid the less fortunate.

Republicans: smaller government and in most cases (Bush not being one of them) fiscal restraint and lower taxes. Most Republicans are conservative and believe in self-reliance and self-accountability where the government has a very small supporting role. They believe more in free enterprise and Capitalism than government assistance.

What the parties stand for has changed considerably over the years. Generally speaking Republicans stand for limited government control, smaller government, morals and a strong military. Democrats are more socialist in idea. They prefer to spend less on maintaining our military forces and more on social programs. Their party tends to create more government in a attempt to care for the masses (aka, protecting ourselves from ourselves mentality). Hence, why democrat candidates usually appeal to those that rely on federal programs.

WOW!!! This is a loaded question......

Democrats - feel that the problems in this country need to be corrected by the government and that the government has the right and obligation to tell people how to run their lives.

Republicans - feel that if left alone Americans will fix the issues that are causing problems on their own, and that people should be responsible for their actions.

Ones representational color is red, the other blue. The first post said it best. Not the much anymore. Both parties have strayed from their roots, and melded together to form basically t he same thing. The both ultimately ignore the constitution, and what the role of government is. I fear they are mostly existent to make money, and not help the people preserve their god given rights (which is all government is supposed to exist for).

"Not a dime's worth" (Wallace)

Rs and Ds are two sides of the same Neocon coin. The powers-that-be want us to think we have a choice so they cart out two hand-picked (via vote fraud) puppets.

Ever wonder why we only hear about two political "parties" in the mainsteam media? Hmmmmmmmm

"Repubilcans suck
Democrats blow"
Lewis Black

You have to decide on what your core values are and how important each are to you.

Than line up both parties and choose the lesser of two evils.
