I think the very best one you could chose is
The Calling - Wherever you will go.

It is the most moving song I've ever heard.

In a survey about 3 months ago apparently 'Goodbye my lover' by James Blunt was the most used piece of music at UK funerals in the last year.

Personally, I think it should be Halleluyah by Jeff Buckley. Not a dry eye in the house.

whats up, this is not morbid to stay an eventuality The song i might desire to be performed at my wake is 'amazing Grace' by way of fact I easily have been there, completed that, and it wasn't all strawberries and cream. I.E.: Vietnam. of direction, i might like an Irish wake, the actual Irish wake the place they take me out the coffin and placed me in a corner with a triple shot of Jameson on the rocks. Than, oft to the crematory the place an urn awaits my remains. via the way, my soul would be in a parallel universe..

Linkin Park - Leave Out All The Rest

I dreamed I was missing
You were so scared
But no one would listen cause no one else cared

After my dreaming
I woke with this fear
What am I leaving when I'm done here?

So if you're asking me I want you to know

When my time comes
Forget the wrong that I've done
Help me leave behind some reasons to be missed
And don't resent me
And when you're feeling empty
Keep me in your memory
Leave out all the rest

Leave out all the rest

Don't be afraid of taking my
I have shared, but I'm me
I'm strong on the surface
Not all the way through
I've never been perfect
But neither have you

So if you're asking me I want you to know

When my time comes
Forget the wrong that I've done
Help me leave behind some reasons to be missed
Don't resent me
And when you're feeling empty
Keep me in your memory
Leave out all the rest

Leave out all the rest

Forgetting?
All the hurt inside you have learned to hide so well
Pretending?
Someone else can't come and save me from myself
I can?t be who you are

When my time comes
Forget the wrong that I've done
Help me leave behind some reasons to be missed
Don't resent me
And when you're feeling empty
Keep me in your memory
Leave out all the rest

Leave out all the rest

Forgetting?
All the hurt inside you have learned to hide so well
Pretending?
Someone else can't come and save me from myself
I can't be who you are

I really enjoyed the song during the funeral for "Blue" in OLD SCHOOL. I think it was DUST IN THE WIND. Also, AMAZING GRACE is a powerful one to me for a funeral.

Adagio for strings by Samuel Barber, very moving piece of music, which has been used in the film Platoon, the elephant man and Lorenzo's oil.
Admittedly it's a long piece of music, but it can be scaled down and still remain a touching, moving piece of music.
