I find my taste buds are enjoying fresh fruits more and more and they taste better now than I can remember as a kid. I haven't used extra salt on anything in at least 30 years. I do eat almost everything that is served hot with at least 100,000 heat unit cayenne powder that I get from an herb store. If you need a reference, when you dry and powder jalapenos they are only about 5,000 heat units, so they don't really do anything for me and I agree with Silk hot spicy Cajun foods are great for the taste buds right now. Want some good books to read? Try Bob Morris, his hero is an ex-Miami Dolphin who live in the Keys and owns a Palm tree farm. Great, funny and well worth the reading. sort of like Robert Parker's Spenser only where it is warm. Have a great day!!!!!

I know my sense of taste is not as refined as it used to be. I take medication which gives me dry mouth and i think that has some effect. I find my self using more salt to get things to have more flavor. I still like to try new foods and as I tell the kids. One bite won't hurt you. If you don't like it just spit it out and if you do like it then you have a new food to enjoy for the rest of you life.

I never ever loose taste for food of any kind! I love it too much but, during the last ten years with my Partner I have been introduced to, and love, of course, Pheasant, Duck, and Venison. I always loved prawns and cockles but now rate Mussells, Scallops and Lobster among my favourites.
I would probably never have tried these things if it weren't for him.

It is VERY depressing. I was blaming it on medications but I have since read your taste buds lose their effectiveness as you get older. I still like my salt, too, but i find there are SO many things I used to like that I no longer like. And I jsut don't like to try new stuff like I used to. Sniff. I am 60.

I've never been much of a salt user and for the past 10 years or so I find I stay away from red sauces, spaghetti, pizza, etc...don't like hard candy much either, but am becoming a connoisseur of cheeses and wines, who'd have thought that?

I no longer like Pizza. I have learned to love avocados, tomatoes, and so many things my mother used to make that I turned my nose up at. I even like liver and onions once in a while. I don't eat as many sweets, but I still like them. Our tastes do change over time.

Don't use salt or pepper or sugar and can't eat any spicy foods. Some things I can't eat because of medical reasons.

Lost the taste for sweets. Candy bars, cookies, cakes, pies etc. I'm on a green veggie kick.
