I'm tired of hearing that crap! "Oh, it's not to good a movie..... You should watch RAMBO!!!" "You're a guy! You should watch Terminator! The Bourne Identity, that kinda stuff!" "Pfft! The Notebook? Man, you cried over it?! Dude, that's stupid!" "Oh, I like Mel Gibson's We Were Soldiers......" "Dude, Cyrano de Bergerac was a stupid movie, anyways......" "Man, what's with you, crying over Titanic?"
News Flash, guys: I watch the movies you name!

no it's not wrong! i think it's pretty sweet actually. those movies get me bawling like a baby, so i always have to watch it at home. and you feeling emotion just goes to show that you have feelings and aren't like one of your rock-hard emotionless buddies. i think that's really cute, and it's totally alright.

The guys who tell you this are obviously not as in touch with their emotions as you appear to be. I'm an emotional guy myself, I too cried when Jack said goodbye to Rose, and when 101 year old Rose dropped the diamond heart into the water. I judge movies by the way they touch my emotions. If they make me laugh, cry, cheer,or cringe with fear, even boo, or any combination of two or more of these reactions it was a good movie in my opinion. The quality of the movie also depends on the intensity of the emotional reactions for example: The movie wasn't that good if I only get a couple of laughs or expressions of "Oh that was sad". Get what I mean? People who hold in these emotions or ridicule others for expressing them have much more to learn about being a human being. "So, be proud of yourself young human". (excerpt from "Dune").

Someone already mentioned it but if you haven't seen "Imitation of Life" (Lana Turner version) then you have not seen a real tear jerker. It'll make you want to call your mother. I'm a guy who rarely cries over movies but that one made me start blubbering like a little girl with a skinned knee.

A "real" man watches whatever he likes, and doesn't worry much about what other people think.
Sheepishly following some code of behavior, or critiquing and giggling about other people's taste in movies, is a much less masculine way to behave. These guys probably refuse to watch these films 'cause they're afraid they’re gonna cry.

Don't you listen to that bull, man! Girls love guys who show some emotion! You cry over chick flicks? So what?! Never mind those guys! They're the sissies for being afraid of showing emotion! It's them who have a problem, not you!

It's all a bunch of immature macho bullshit. In this society, guys aren't supposed to have emotions. Any male who ever cries is seen as weak. It's crap, I know. Don't buy into it. Don't lose yourself because of some bullshit cultural paradigm.

I think it shows a great intelligence, when you choose to watch something more than sex and violence.
