in math one day we were sitting there taking a test.
and the teacher brought up my homework, which i know i didnt do right, but anyways...she started yelling at me and telling me how stupid, pitifull, and pathetic i was.
before me she said this to to other people.
we are in an advanced algerbra class, and she tried to tell the three of us that we cant do basic math.
we obviously can do basic math because we are in algerbra.
so my question is...
Was it right for her to do that?

no, it is not right for a teacher to do that. my dad did something similar to me, he teaches math at the college and he yelled at me because I did not do well on my math test. but I talked o his boss, who happens to be the adviser for a club I am in, and she told my dad that he can't do that to me in the class room. so now he just does it at home... I get it ether way.

Teacher had a bad day, apparently. No, of course her behavior was uncalled for and unprofessional. You might calmly confront her after class and get her to apologize, which she owes you. If this a pattern with her, tell your parents and the principal and the school board if necessary and get her removed. Not everyone who graduates from college and gets a teaching license is qualified to be a teacher.

I don't understand why people find it acceptable for teachers to yell at students. They want to be considered professionals but they don't act in a professional manner. I don't know of any professional who can yell at clients (which is what your students are) and still have a job the next day. Seems to me that this behavior should be recorded and reported! Your teacher was wrong and I'd tell my parents to bring it to the school's attention. She is verbally abusing you and humiliating you.

Absolutely not! I am in teacher education classes right now, and it is a must to keep confidentiality when working with students. She should have waited until after class to confront you, and never, under any circumstances, should have yelled at you.

No. I'd get the other two girls she was yelling at and report her conduct to the principal of the school. She doesn't have the right to treat people like that.

I sure dont think that was right for her to do she is a teacher she was suppose to tell you your grade and just tell you that if you need help in anything that you should stay for tutoring or something. She aint suppose to tell you anything like that and especially tell other people about you that was between you and her to talk about not for her to yell at you or anything i would report her to the office if i was you!

What a b-tch! Get her reported. It is NOT okay for a teacher to belittle her students and make them feel bad. If she has done this before, hopefully the school would be smart enough to get her fired.

absolutely not! a teacher should never talk to a student that way or call you any kind of names. tell your parents so you can have a meeting with the principal. if you aren't doing your work right than neither is she because she is supposed to be TEACHING you and not putting you down.

No I would go to the person in charge of your school and tell them what is going on and if your teacher does it again get more people to come with you and tell the same person.

No! And you know it! That person should not be a teacher if he/she is going to humiliate her/his students instead of doing his/her job which is to teach with patience and maturity. Tell your parents or the board. gl! =)
