My beta was overfed (over the course of a couple of months) seven or eight beta bites a day. (My bad, I didn't know and he looked bored). I have been putting medicine (pet store recommended it) a drop every other day or so for the last week. It has turned the water blue. He also has a live plant in there. Every now and then I'll put a beta bite in, but he is definetely not interested in it. He's tilting slightly, and then once in a while he'll swim really fast, almost like he is trying to shake this sickness off. I hope he makes it. My question is, how long can he last without eating? It has been almost ten days like this!

Months, literally months. It's very difficult to starve a fish. Keep his water clean. He should recover.

Ok, be careful with the meds - I would never recommend them unless I knew just what the problem was. Wrongly medicated fish can end up worse off than they started. Do you know what is wrong with your fish and why you are using that particular medication?

I would suggest trying to feed him a piece of a thawed, frozen pea. This can help to clear up his system, and does wonders for constipation - if he eats it. If he doesn't, you may want to back off the meds, which might be affecting his appetite or something worse.

Fish can go long periods without food, weeks no problem. I won't say he won't die - but it won't be from starvation.

Fish can live a long time without new food. In a few days, you might want to try feeding him a little bit of pea to help digest whatever is probably impacted in him. You can do this by thawing a frozen pea in warm water, removing the shell, cutting it into tiny pieces, and offering 1 or 2 to your betta. Until he gets better, keep his tank as clean and stress-free as possible.

Why would you medicate him for constipation? Medicating fish can sometimes do more harm than good.

I agree to try and get him to eat a boiled, peeled pea. And try and keep his water as clean as you can. My betta is in a 2 gallon tank, and when he is ill I do 50% water changes every day.
