There is art in recycling gifts.
1. First, make a note of who gave the gift and make sure it is not given to the giver, or to her circle of friends.
2. Second, make sure the receiver will appreciate the gift. You are not giving it away just because you want to get rid of it, but because it either does not suit your setting, or you have one too many of the same.
3. Make sure you inspect the gift before giving it away. It should not be something that you used and later on decided you do not really want. Best if it still in mint condition.
4. Wrap it with glee, and joy in your heart. Then the gift becomes a representative of your well wishes for the receiver.

No, I won't recycle a gift but I am willing to give the gift I received if someone ask me to have that item especially if I don't like it that much.
But to give a gift received to someone as a gift is not my style. I always give something personalize for certain individuals.

Yes, I would. Done it a couple of times before. Just make sure that the person you are giving the recycled gift to isn't in the same circle of friends with the one who gave that gift to you. AND to take out any names or any such identification that the gift was intended for you. =)
Happy gift giving!

Miss Manners frowns on recycling =) If I don't need the gift or if I already have it, I ask permission from the giver to forward it to someone else who wants/needs it more

I used to think it's not proper to do that until someone convinced me that it's better for an unwanted/unneeded gift to be passed on to another who just might want or need it rather than for it to rot away in obscurity. So now I recycle.

Instead of recycling, I donate these gifts to orphanages and other institutions like Golden Acres.

I have done this in the past. To me, I'd rather pass it on to someone who may use/like it than throw it away or sell it at a yard sale! It's another way of recycling.

I do this a lot actually. Last time I got a James Blunt CD for my birthday... since I'm not a James Blunt fan and my sister is, I gave it to her for her birthday the following month.
Al Gore would be proud of me for recycling.

Absolutely. I used to keep everything even if I didn't like it. However, it's better to give it to someone who'll have better use for the gift and love it.
