And the death penalty, too. Why? They are mental light weights. They are themselves the best argument FOR abortion!

Stem cells aren't people. Some stem cells (those that some scientists consider to be most therapeutically useful) are cells harvested from human embryos; thus, there is a controversy about stem cell research that uses cells from human embryos (btw, fertility banks have hundreds of thousands of embryos that will just remain that way indefinitely until someone throws them out. An argument in the scientific community is that they should be used for research.) But making therapeutically viable products from stem cells from embryonic material is extremely inefficient and new, improved ways of harvesting and developing stem cells are now being researched. (But I personally think stem cell research is going to die out because researchers keep coming up to dead ends with their different research strategies over the years). Your point about stem cells may seem provocative but it is ersatz (irrelevant) actually for those who actually know about stem cell science and the controversy. As for the other comment. Yeah, some people support war and the killing of other people's children but think that pregnant women in general should give birth to unwanted children rather than abort them when they aren't yet people but are a bunch of cells and tissue. It's called a "moral dilemma" but not to fear, certain religious doctrines "help" people justify it.

Because stem cells ARE human babies. As for war should we not fight for the right thing, for justice, freedom from invasion, etc? If peace is what we want we aren't going to get it by sitting around and letting foriegners attack our country. We can't simply back down like cowards. Men have always fought in wars for what they believe in, so you can bet the soldiers in Iraq know why they are there.
