They are paid off when the bill comes. I use credit cards for convenience and air miles, but pay them off each month because I refuse to pay interest on anything. If I can't pay for it, I don't buy it.

I have learned the very hard way not to spend what I don't have. I pay cash for Christmas, and if I am going to charge something, I do it early enough that it is paid by Christmas. If I mess up the finances, we don't eat and that just isn't acceptable to me!

Don't buy more than I can pay for when the bill comes. Credit card debt can eat you alive. And think of all you could have bought with those finance charges that you paid. It's like stuffing money down the garbage disposal.

Takes about 1 min for the lady to take my cash and put it in the register. To me if you can't afford to get it than you just dont get it.
