Religions that teach hate??? Interesting. It seems that most religions are themselves the victims of hate directed at them by the media. Should the government ban media outlets that teach others that religion is stupid.. or teach that we shouldn't vote for someone because he is a Mormon?

The mass media has taught the public that religion is the source of many of society problems. John Lemon would sing, "imagine there's no religion"... isn't this an attack against religion? Why are we taught that people who are religious are bad people?

No. the 2d you commence advocating the censoring of a team of individuals, you exchange into basically as undesirable because of the fact the individuals you prefer to censor. we've something mentioned as freedom of speech in this u . s . a ., and that's significant in case you have the prefer to make effective our u . s . a . remains unfastened. Say we ban the non secular speech, because of the fact some view it hateful. you have basically given the government license to limit any recommendations or speech it deems hateful. next it ought to be the individuals who're protesting a central authority which they sense has exchange into corrupt. What keeps the government from banning speech that's severe of them? might you like no longer having the flexibility to protest something that the government has completed incorrect? believe me, censorship is a slippery slope, which you do no longer prefer to commence down. How approximately no longer listening the subsequent time you finally end up indignant or aggravated. does no longer that be plenty much less annoying?

In a free society, it is always a dangerous move to give the government the power to criminalize beliefs.

If they preach hate and support criminality, then let them be investigated and prosecuted.

The best way to refute ideas is not to ban them, as Europe does, but to talk against them and show just how awful they are.

Great googlymooglies, my answer is a tad schizophrenic.

When I say investigate and prosecute, I meant that is only if they are actively engaging in inciting criminal activity. Simply preaching hateful stuff, like the "Rev" Fred Phelps does, is not enough. Simply preaching that blacks are bad, or that infidels are bad, isn't enough. It has to go beyond that.

Sorry for the apparent contradictions.

Government should be banned from religion and religion should be banned from government. God doesn't get a good rap from the current, I tend to think God would rather have a personal touch.

No, "Congress shall make no law that infringes on the freedom of religion"

Those who commit crimes should be punished but congress cannot ban a religious group.

I believe in the seperation of church and state...

If the government banned any religions that have to do with hate and violence we would not have ANY religions...that goes for christianity too!

No, all religions have a right to exist. However, they don't have any right to influence our government or to be supported by it.

Yes, that way we can get rid of Pat Robertson, the Graham family and other televangelists who preach hate disguised as peace and love.

religion is the reason for most all hate and hate crimes. If the gov't would outlaw religions that cause hate and hate crimes, it would have to outlaw all religion.

Religion is just a way to keep people scared followers.
