I would offer it an array of drinks, either a coffee or a nice cuppa tea, and if it was a hot day I would offer it a frappachinno, a nice cold drink with a caffine boost!
Either that or just find his plane tickets back to Australia!

Hi,
I thought I was in dream mode when a big gecko lizard wandered into my kitchen when living in the Mid-East..
No Platypuses about, but I suppose a similar thing.
I called it Marlon, and it sort of moved in, lived on the walls, ate all the little bugs, and disseapeared each day through a kitchen window for a toddle, and fun with his girlfreind, but always returned.
Not sure with a platypus, though.
Perhaps take it back to the local mango grove, as it may have lost any sense of "home"

I don't know probably take pictures and then call someone to come and pick it up and take it to a natural habitat where it would be more comfortable.
