... wow, improve a vespa?

use a baseball bat, and possibly explosives, but never EVER drive it again. Get yourself a real bike!

Best bet is get a muffler with a TRUE expansion chamber. Scotoerworks has those Primas which I've been eying up for my P200. But be prepared to work and rework that carb. like it's never been worked before. I know Gene up at scooters origionali got a PK to do 70. He is at Vespa Ceder Grove. Also try to use a HI end oil so you can try to use less and less. Buy premium, and use a top grade oil like AMS oil. You can cheat the 2% a little and keep that octane level up.

This is really not what you want to hear, but I think it is more cost effective to buy a 150cc scooter than to upgrade a 50cc scooter.

The most common way to improve the performance of your bike is to add a 70cc kit and a free flow exhaust. In order to keep it "budget" you will need to do the work yourself. You may also need to rejet the bike after those mods.
