Thanks for the laugh. No, I think of the word "Redneck" as a term of endearment.
My father and I did NOT have a good relationship, but I had an Uncle whose neck was as red as his pickup truck and he loved me as my father should have. My Beloved Redneck Uncle was an Original Redneck: He owned oil wells and a hog farm and he LIVED outdoors. When he wasn't working the wells or farm, he was huntin' or fishin'.
He bought me my first bicycle, took me hunting and fishing, made me scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast, took me to Sunday School and let me drive his pickup (around the farm) when I could reach the pedals. He taught me love by showing it.
Rednecks built this country; God Bless 'em!!!

What I love about the south is almost everything, but I don't know why. I don't live in the south, and never have. But if a movie is set in the south, or a novel is set in the south, I am inexplicably attracted to it and love it (unless it is really a lousy plot). I love every style of music that comes out of the south. I have relatives from the south. One cousin married the daughter of a senator....a southern aristocrat per se...and I have never heard a more pleasant accent, combined with her quiet manner....I could listen to her all day! Would I move to the south? I would find it too hot, I think, at this stage of the game. But I love to visit the south...any and all of it.

The term redneck is meant to be somewhat a good one , pointing to the sunburnt neck of the Hardworking men who worked from sunup to sundown in the fields. But today it is used as a duragitory slur. It offends me when used as a put down. I am from MS and have lived in WI for 6 years now and believe me I have met more "rednecks" here than I ever did back home.

Funny, funny. Did you ever see a picture of a redneck bass boat? It is two two by sixes with a foldup lawn chair nailed to the wood. Has 4 cup holders comes with a trolling motor 2 and a half horsepower between the legs. Keep the fishing poles in the back of the chair on a rack and uses full six packs of beer for anchors. 4 of them. When the beer is gone it is time to go home to sit in front of the TV and drink more beer.

Nope does not offend me in the least.
Redneck humor is the best around.
I am still sitting here chuckling.
I was splitting a gut on the leak in my sink, and it kept getting better as I went along. A star for you gal. Got anymore, I need a good laugh today.
