Currents in the outer core which has a high metallic content. these currents are likely to be convection currents ordered by the Earths rotation around the sold inner core. This generates a magnetic field as a homogeneous dynamo generating a self sustaining magnetic field.

yup
as the rotation of the hot liquid metal core causes metal to move against itself, and it creates an electric charge, which in turns creates a mag field.
strangely enough this field helps boost the electric charge even more, strengthening the mag field.
its a beautiful dependency.
