It's a little different for everyone, but you will probably feel the first kicks lower in your abdomen. At 21 weeks your baby and uterus are still pretty small, and they're going to migrate up and out as your pregnancy progresses. I didn't start feeling kicks above my belly button until I was about 23 weeks along. You'll never - at any point in your pregnancy - feel the baby kick constantly. This is because the baby goes through resting periods just like he or she will outside the womb. It's not unusual at 21 weeks to have seemingly no pattern to the movements...you won't be expected to notice a regular one until you are at least 28 weeks along (although many women do notice a regular pattern of activity and restfulness well before then). As your baby gets bigger, he or she will become more coordinated, and the movements will start happening at predictable times during the day, meaning they'll be less spontaneous. If your routine keeps you on the go and you don't get to spend a lot of time enjoying baby's acrobatics - or you simply don't notice them because you're active - you may be asked to start doing kick counts somewhere around the 28 week mark. From what you're describing, however, you sound very normal and right on schedule! Good luck and congrats!

I felt them much higher when I was pregnant with my daughter. She enjoyed kicking my ribs mostly. At first they were in my lower belly. Bellow the belly button definitely.
With this one, not only is it more active then my daughter, but stronger and lower down. I could swear sometimes that this kid is kicking me in my cervix. I felt most of the kicks in my pelvic area. Now that I am further along they are moving up, but they are still pretty low I think.
Movements are random. You will have a period of time where you may feel like there is a soccer game in there. Other times you will get worried because you haven;t felt anything for a while. Always remember that you are getting to the point in your pregnancy when your baby is developing a sleep pattern. Those "quiet" times are usually when your baby is asleep.
During the remainder of your pregnancy you will learn tricks too. If I eat certain foods it wakes this kid up. If I bounce on my birthing ball rhythmically it can calm it down. Try different things and see how your baby reacts.
By the way. I did the bounce thing when I was pregnant with my daughter. Even after she was born I continued to do it to calm her when she was inconsolable. It worked great!

It isn't the same for everyone, but I felt the kicks low... and that is where I have always felt the most movement. When you feel your baby at first... you may not feel them everyday. It will depend on the position they are in. At 21 weeks, the baby still has plenty of room to move around and you might not feel them every day... but as the baby runs out of room, you will feel them much more often. I felt my baby the most between 28 and 34 weeks. Hope that helped!

I started feeling kicks about the same time as you. They were very low down in my abdomen and felt like little thumps. They get more constant the farther along you get. When it first started it was just now and then that I felt them. Now that I'm at almost 27 weeks they're more regular and I have an idea of when he's going to start up. And once he starts he tends to keep it up for an hour or so.

I felt it pretty low in the abdomen at first. Below the navel. It will take a while before the baby is big enough to feel it higher than that. As the baby gets bigger, you will not only feel kicks, but also the baby's movement. Sometimes it will feel like he's rolling over or doing somersaults. Sometimes babies will hiccup and it feels very similar to when you hiccup.

I just found out that I'm pregnant this weekend. The girl who works in the office with me is seven months pregnant right now. She started feeling kicks just before she found out the sex of her little girl- I believe she was at eighteen weeks at the time. She said that at first she felt her kick a few times a day, but now she feels her almost constantly.

I don't know if there is a specific area, but my sense of what used so beautifully to be called "the quickening" was just above "the bikini line" on my right side. Felt like a gas bubble fluttering, but I knew better. And when it repeated, I was sure. A little like being tickled by a feather on the inside. Wonderful.
