Social class is based not only on money but on taste, attitudes, behavior, education, and (especially in the most socially conservative circles) family and ancestry. In my opinion, a thoroughly classless society is not likely, because these factors will always vary, and people will tend to gravitate toward others who share their values. However, society can always continue to provide opportunity for its members to move into the positions for which they are best suited, and the economic structure can change to close the gaps between rich and poor so that social class is more truly based on these other factors.
