THIS IS HOW THE PROBLEM ACTUALLY IS PLACED....... 4X+Y=-2........................................................................................ 4X+3Y=-12 how is it that i can go about solving it andget the right answer?thanks MC

- 4x - y = 2
4x + 3y = - 12------ADD

2y = - 10
y = - 5

4x - 5 = - 2
4x = 3
x = 3/4

x = 3/4 , y = - 5

By subtracting 1st equation from the 2nd you get
2y = -10 y = -5
then by substituting y with -5 in any of equation you get
x = 3/4

subtract the two equation and get y-3y=-2+12
-2y=10
y=-5
x=3/4
