I would say this to be true. You might find someone attractive enough to want them but you know that they would never be faithful so why bother expecting anything but sex.

A player is someone who dates many people but only to get what they want (often sex) and may date several at one time, but doesn't tell the others they aren't the only one.
A s1ut is a derogatory term for a female who is promiscuous. There's nothing wrong with being promiscuous if one is responsible and safe so I find the term a misnomer (usually used by insecure people who want to judge others negatively).
No, the terms are not the same.

There is no male equivalent of a s1ut, or rather a player is not a s1ut exactly, because in popular male culture the more people you sleep with the more you are revered whereas for women it carries negative connotation. A s1ut's a s1ut in my opinion, male or female.

Nope. According to rap culture, being a player is good, while being a sl*t is bad. Mind you, in order to have a relationship with a player, you need to be a sl*t, which doesn't make a lot of sense. Then again, in rap culture, all men are players and all women are sl*ts. Which is one of the many reasons I hate rap.
