In other words, once they have home field locked up, will they still be playing for a perfect season or will they rest the starters in order to avoid injuries and have them ready for the playoff run?

I am betting they will play for history.

For both. If they make history, the Super Bowl is included.

IMO this season is just a big FU to everyone from Belichick.

They will run the table in the regular season but they will NOT win the SB....So they will, in sense, make history : " the most disappointing season ever" This will be the headline " After finishing 16-0, The Patriots run to SB stops in an embarrassing lost at home last night"

I'd laugh my *** off if they clinched home field and Brady got hurt during the last game of the season. I fully expect them to keep playing their starters. I actually want them to go 16-0 just so my Colts can put them in their place come playoff time. We are the Champs until someone beats us in the playoffs. Flying under the radar will make it that much sweeter.

As egotistical as Belijerk is, they probably are playing for both because a perfect regular season is meaningless without a championship.

However, I think they look like a playoff flameout.

They won their division now wait and see who they play in the next few games. If Brady plays with all the other starters then they are playing for history. If they play a quarter and sit, they are playing for the Superbowl. wait and see.

Playing to prove something. They were caught spying at the beginning of the season, and now they're out to prove they didn't need that to win. Everything else is just details.
