TV now is really scraping the bottom of the barrel. I loved
the Carol Burnett show and would love to see something
similar come back. I loved Jackie Gleason and the Honeymooners. Also more family shows and situation
comedies like Everybody loves Raymond and Seinfeld.
Those shows are a riot. There also are too many crime shows like CSI and Law and Order. I loved the old doctor shows like Dr. Kildare and Ben Casey. We need more of those. We mostly watch public television, Nova, and Antiques Roadshow and some of the nature documentaries
when they are on.

Count me in, I too would like to see a vast improvement in TV programming. Bring back the variety shows. I used to enjoy watching a bit of television, but today's diet does not stimulate the appetite at all. I very much enjoyed shows like the Dean Martin Show, Dinah Shore, Carol Burnett, Mama's Family, just clean down to earth entertainment without all the sex thrown in your face.

Yes yes yes give us sometthing along the lines of Carol Burnett, Red Skelton or Jackie Gleason. Music, song and dance with lots of comedy. Even Dean Martin had a decent show. I think we are hungry for some new entertainment!

Now with the writers strike, looks like we are in for some more reality shows. Maybe after the first of the year, it will end.
They have a new one on FOX I think. Its called Crowned and it involves mother and daughter teams. It looks horrendous!!!!
You can be sure I won't be watching it. Then there is another one where they hook people up to a lie detector machine and ask REAL personal questions. Wow!!!

I would love to see something like Carol Burnett come back. That program was good for all ages. My parents wouldn't allow me to watch Laugh In.

Nah. I like Survivor, Big Brother, Amazing Race and American Idol. We also like Discovery, History, HgTV, Science, and an occasional good movie. Oh and some standup comedy. Heroes, love Flip That House and of course the old Andy Griffith show.

I really dislike the reality shows now,(UK) once you've see one, you have seen them all, it's just cheap TV, doesn't cost much to produce them, I would certainly love to see the variety shows come back, the old ones like Sunday Night at the London Palladium etc, but now days I don't watch that much TV, I do watch a couple of soaps, but that's about it.

I would - either a musical variety show or one like Laugh In!..I loved that show and when commenting on it yesterday here, realized how much I missed that...it was like a prime time Saturday Night Live with great actors, performers and guest performers...I also used to like the shows like Red Skeleton etc that had vignettes they showcast each airing.
