what could qualify Bush to make such claims?

This is not the first time that supposed Christians have gone to kill in the name of God.

History is full of such examples - in the Crusades entire towns were slaughtered in the Middle East by Christian knights because these people were "heathens" and therefore not fit to live.

Unfortunately there is a fair-sized contingent of Christian religious extremists in the US that have these same attitudes.

These people usually vote Republican, so GWB has been told to mouth Christian values and to use religion as one of the props for the current administration's policies. This is not about whatever personal religious beliefs he may have (if any). It is about acting and politics and what his bosses are telling him to do...

The prophets of the GOP (God's Only Party) Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, James Dobson, Tim Haggard and other money TV preachers all claim God spoke to and said Bush in 2000 and 2004. Bush claims he man of God and what he has done seems to be justified in eyes of the religious right. I can hear them today denouncing if it were a Democratic who took us to war in Iraq and being un-Christian.

there is no evidence how can you make such a claim and drink beer and screw up our country and cost so many lives in Iraq is beyond me. a good christian would be pulling our troops out and worrying about domestic issues

there isn't any. He makes alot of claims but......does anybody REALLY take him seriously?

I don't remember it saying in the bible that it's ok to start a war with a country on the presumption that they are developing (or own) nuclear weapons.

On the other hand, in his own little demented world he probably sees himself as a modern day christian crusader, guess he'd qualify then........not!!!!!

That would be like trying to qualify why you bought all the CD's of one particular artist. You bought them because you're a fan, and you like his/her music. If Bush is a fan of Jesus Christ, should he have to qualify his statement? On that premise you may as well say to someone, "You're not a REAL Elton John fan because I don't like the things you do."

Just because you don't like some of the things he does - or even all of them - doesn't mean he couldn't be a Christian. If he says he believes that Jesus Christ is his Savior, and is doing his best to live what he believes, that should be enough for all of us. NO ONE is perfect except Christ, so stop judging. According to Jesus that is an un-Christian thing to do.

You would really need to know him as a person to know that answer. To know him as the president you wouldn't really get that correct answer becasue his staff would tell you what they think the public want to know.

He lies about everything else. Why would you believe he is telling the truth about this?
