The person who is a slave to the mind will not find peace or happiness in life. The body is a mansion which has been projected by the mind for its own joy. Some waste their lives by expending their energy in looking after the body. Some others increase their attachment through thoughtless repetition of spiritual exercises, reducing them to mere ritual. The wise man is he who controls the mind and purifies the heart by filling it with good thoughts.

I keep my heart full of blood.... like any reasonable person would.

And the wise man doesn't focus on "good thoughts";
The wise man focuses on understanding.
That is all.
Knowledge is the tool of the scholar.
Understanding is the partner of the sage.

"Good" is merely the weapon of the bigot... for the sage knows no "good" or "bad", rather seeing the necessity in all things.

That person you are referring to is some sort of either a saint or a nutcase.Neither one of them are really part of the human race. It´s an admirable trait to try to attain to wisdom but don´t be upset if you fail. Life has all sorts of lessons for us which we will absorb without sainthood.There is nothing wrong with looking after the body. It is the temple of the spirit.Look how many cases of diabetes 2 there are today because people don´t look after their bodies and allow themselves to become obese.There are many other degenerative diseases caused by neglect of this precious gift.
