Well, do what the young woman above said but DON'T put the water into the leaves' funnel. If you do that, the plant will ROT! Apply water to the fruit once it appears. Until then, you can water the soil once, or maybe twice, a week. Leave it in FULL sun too!
Pineapples plants, like mangos, LOVE the sun! Well, maybe you should water it more often than twice-a-week. Just be sure to apply the water to the dirt around-the-plant and not the leaves' funnel. Once the fruit appears, you can apply the water just to the fruit.
Then once the fruit appears, you need to be concerned about the rats, raccoons, squirrels, or mice getting to the fruit and starting to consume it, but that is MONTHS away, and you can tackle THAT issue once you get there! *grin*

Yes. Remove 1/2 to 1" of lower leaves, plunk in dirt, water the funnel created by the leaves. One pineapple per plant is produced.
