Okay- I just went on the pill a few weeks ago, however this is not a guarantee, i know it has a failure rate of around 5 percent, which is a bit too high for me.

However condoms really kill the experience..
what are some other good methods of preventing pregnancy, that will actually be effective?

please do NOT say: condoms or those female condoms, can't do that lol. oh and also don't say abstinence :)

If you don't want to use a condoms, which you should because not only should you worry about a pregnancy, but sexually transmitted diseases as well, all other forms of protection would be an over kill, if you want you could use a diaphragm or spermicides but still will have the chances of getting a disease, unless your with a permanent partner..........

There's nothing that's absolutely fooproof. The Pill, if used correctly, fails less than 5% of the time. If you miss doses, though, its effectiveness goes down.

The only backup method I can think to suggest besides condoms is spermicide.

If you're at all interested in a primary method that's more effective than the Pill, IUDs have the lowest failure rate. They're easiest to insert if you've been pregnant, but you can still get one if you haven't been. The Mirena releases a low dose of a hormone, and it can make your period less frequent or stop it altogether. It lasts five years. The copper IUD lasts 10 years, but it can cause heavier periods and cramping.

The patch releases a higher dose of hormones than the Pill, which raises your risk of side effects.

Alongside your birth control you can also use spermacidal lubricants or gels, a diaphram or "cup", but as none of these protect you from STD's, my suggestion would still be condoms! I know you dont want to hear it, but approx. 1/3 of sexually active teenagers in Canada/USA have an STD and don't even know it as they have never exhibited any symptoms! I think the chance of infection, even in a commited monogomous relationship, is too scary for me to put my body at risk, don't you? And like someone else has already stated, nothing will kill the mood faster than a baby or herpes!

The pill doesn't have a failure rate of 5%. Who told you that?? If used correctly, it's basically 100% effective at preventing pregnancy. But that means taking it every day, at approximately the same time each day (so, like every day at bedtime, for exapmle. And if you forget, then you must use a different form of contraceptive for the rest of that month. Condoms have a much higher failure rate. Other ways:
the contraceptive sponge
a diaphragm
spermicide

Birth control is 99% effective when used properly.

If you want to be sure that you're almost fully protected try using spermicide- it might burn however, so you may have to try several different kinds.

If you need other protection try using a lea's shield (it requires no fitting like a diaphargm does) and uses spermicide in conjuction with a barrier method. It is however a little bigger, but before I got BC it worked wonders for not using condoms.

Nothing will kill the experience more than a screaming baby with a loaded diaper.

The is nothing that is going to be effective.

Pull out method is not good...men have pre-***

You can try charting your ovulation and not have sex those day....however sperm can live 3 days and you never know when you schedule may change on you.

Don't know if you can use a spermicide without a condom.

Try a planned parenthood and see what they suggest.

However I still say condoms...they offer the best protection against STD's.

There's a good threat you can get pregnant. A person leaks semen just about the entire time during intercourse, just due to the fact that he didn't finish with out the condom does no longer imply that he didn't secrete.

Pulling out, but watch out after that. Really, I don't know if It works for everyone. With unprotected sex you're going to gain more risk. As for the 5% failure rate, it's better than the condom's annual failure rate (which is between 10-35% annually). Maybe try the lubes that kill sperm. Also, I want you to laugh at the people that never answered your question and instead tried to talk you out of the whole thing. Remember there are risk, safe sex prevents the bad guys(STDs) from coming in, and when in doubt, pull it out.

They actually have these films that you can insert and it doesn't kill the "moment." I actually used them after I had a baby and knew the pill wasn't kicked in. So, with the pill, the films, and "pulling out", you should be good. Sorry to be so blunt.

The patch. I use it and they say it is 99 percent effective as long as it is used correctly. You just slap one on and forget about it for a week, its a lot easier than remembering to take a pill everyday.
