I applaud the makers of this public service announcement...Cooties have been a terrible problem for many generations not just on the playgrounds of America...but the entire world. Cooties are a fictitious and HIGHLY contagious disease. This film really tugs at your heartstrings as you see first hand the lives or ordinary children affected by cooties.
I do wish they had done their research a bit more thoroughly. The cootie shot has been widely available for many many years. However it is somewhat barbaric as most people hate to get shots and it does not last long. Different sources have claimed different vaccination lengths lasting as much as a whole day to just a few minutes...so you have to get many of them in one recess period. there have also been reports of local remedies that work well. Some suburban NJ kids in the 70's developed a cootie spray that could be applied wherever a person with cooties had been and it destroys cooties on contact.
The worlds greatest scientist(Sammie of popular clown duo Sammie and Tudie) has been working with some success on developing an oral cootie vaccine that lasts for much longer. Unfortunately the lab assistant(Tudie) drank all of it and spit it into Sammie's face. But it will rise again.
