Just wondering, why do adults not believe in santa but do believe in god? there is the same amount of evidence for both, 0. Is is just because others do?? So its kind of like a chain effect.. say 9 people believe so one must to fit in.

I take your point about the chain effect, but I'm not sure about the comparison! People who believe in God are essentially "gambling" on the prospect of an after-life and eternal salvation... I don't think Santa offers quite the same reward!!!

well first of all, santa claus is the german name for st. nicholas. there wouldnt be 'saint's as we know them without god.

so, there IS a santa claus. there was a santa claus is a better way of saying it. the legend that we have today is more about the principles, the spirit and the appeal to children. its the REASON for the SEASON, so to speak.

as for evidence- youre off on that, too. this is an ongoing debate but there is no evidence that there ISNT a god. there is plenty of evidence that there is.
ever heard the expression- one hundred million people cant be wrong?

also, if youre still in doubt, do some research on exorcisms, on miracles. they happen. they really happen.

this isnt about one particular faith, etc. but ya, as much as i believe life on earth 'evolved', its a bit silly to think we're going to make sense of it all and trace ourselves back down to a pile of goo. if you did your research on evolution, there is surprisingly little to explain much beyond a certain point- i dont mean the fossil record, i mean the actual gaps between the different forms of life here.

somewhere, somehow, there is some sort of presence that gave us a push.

Miyuki deserves best answer! Ha ha ha.

When I was little I loved Santa. Even in the summertime I thought about him and tried to be good. Then they told me that they were only kidding and that there was no Santa.

Later, they took me to church. Some guy in a dress told me that a wrathful and vengeful god with a beard way up in the sky who was also invisible and could watch me anytime, even when I went to the bathroom, was either going to send me to a place where they would cook me forever or to a place where I got to sit at what I only assumed were his smelly feet and praise him. I thought that was a pretty good joke.

Basically people are raised or exposed through their live (this is unavoidable in the US) to the belief system and have a tendency to belief that it's true.
