I'm planning a trip in the US to see a friend, (2 weeks) and I was offered to go anywhere I want...problem is, I don't know much about the US and I'm sure there are LOADS of beautiful places to choose from, which I don't know about! So, to all American people and whoever knows the US at all, would you offer input? I would like to see more country/nature than big cities, alhtough I will be seeing Chicago as I'll land there.
Hot springs would be a plus :>

Yosemite in California is really worth seeing. The water falls, and sheer rock cliffs are stunning. It won't be as crowded this time of year.
I also like the Redwoods on California's northern coast. You could go to Muir Woods just north of San Francisco (30minutes).
The Oregon coast is pretty spectatular, but may if you are from UK you've seen enough coastlines.

Well, I'm not sure about hot springs, but we have a lot of national parks here that are pretty beautiful. If you have a chance, go see Torrey Pines state park in San Diego, California. California is also home to Big Bear--gorgeous mountains and water. Or go see Acadia in Maine. And of course, you should see the Grand Canyon in Arizona. And you may not think nature/country when you think of New York, but if you go upstate to Bear Mountain near Haverstraw, you'll see a really beautiful mountainous area and lovely lake and railroad. Also, if you go out to Long Island you'll find really pretty vineyards and pumpkin patches. Very farmlike the farther out you go.
