Independent baseball is ok to watch, but the quality is not that great at times. I go to a few games a year, but if the team by me had affiliation, I would go more. Of all the games I have watched them play over the course of 7 years, not one player has played on a major league roster after - so they are not a stepping stone to pro ball. It is like watching a bunch of low payed guys play baseball. It is hard to cheer for them since they are nobodies.

Actually, I got to a few games of an independent league team every year. I really like it. True, the talent isn't as good as you'd get in affiliated leagues, but it's still fun to go to the game.
It's really a good value. At the place I go, you can get a ticket behind the plate for $8 and parking is only $5. The concession prices are reasonable too. Two people can easily go to a game for less than $35.
Plus traffic is never a problem either. I'm not saying that nobody goes to the games. A lot of the ones I've gone to have been sellouts, but a sellout in that park is about 5000 people. That's pretty impressive for an independent team when you consider that's more than the Montreal Expos drew most nights.

We have a Independent Minor League team here in Sioux City, IA. I think it is great for guys to get a chance with all the teams in the majors; these guys play with so much more passion than the guys tied to a franchise, they are fighting for a chance to be tied to a franchise. A lot of times this is their last hope before having to get a real job....they leave everything they have on the field.

Hey a true baseball fan would watch baseball no matter what. Majors, minors, indy's or little league. Hell, I like watching the little league world series on ESPN!!!!!!!

I like a good baseball game where ever it is, so I don't see the problem with more baseball to watch.

Tell me about it, i hate it. If you can't make it to the minors or are to old for baseball then don't play. It is a waste leugue and nobody goes to see it.

I would love to see all the independent teams to hook up to parent clubs in the MLB. So that every minor leaguer has a fair chance to make it to the bigs.
