It's possible to be in a marriage where there is no sex....

HOWEVER.....if both partners are able to have sex, then it's not a healthy marriage.

Unfortunately, when it comes to sex:

"The stereotype about the sex-starved man and the disinterested woman may be more than just a cliche. As it turns out, the instant a woman enters a secure relationship, her sex drive begins to plummet. Four years in, a German study found, fewer than half of women wanted regular sex. And after 20 years, only 20 percent did."

We have this instinctual thing that jacks up our sex drive WHILE WE'RE DATING to make us attractive to men and to help us find a mate to have babies with. Once we've got them our CHEMICALS wind down...

On the other hand, men have the instinctual drive BOTH before AND after marriage.... They seem to have the problem of being sweet and romantic to get the girl, then losing that desire after marriage.

If a man and woman understand these changes and differences, it can be really simple to keep a marriage hot.

Men should keep in mind that they should satisfy their women EMOTIONALLY and women keep in mind that they should satisfy their men SEXUALLY....especially after the marriage vows.

We don't have to be in the mood to wash dishes....we do it because we care about our homes and making a nice place for our family to live. Why do we then refuse to keep our sex drive alive in order to keep our man happy?

Which is more important?

It's not technically a requirement of marriage. I think there are some people that don't want to have sex because they've had bad experiences that make them see sex as something it isn't. I think that if you fall in love with someone and get married, that will change with time.

Sex is not the only reason some couples marry. It could be just a marriage of convenience, for instance, financial stability. Although I would prefer my marriage to have sex in it, some marry just for the companion ship, you know, (like someone to talk to after a long day) Strange yes, but some people prefer it this way.

There are people who don't believe sex is that important. My ex didn't seem to think it was and my girlfriend has an aunt that gives it up once a year just because she feels she has to.

I think it is an important part of a relationship not only because it may keep your spouse/girlfriend from cheating but I believe that the physical attraction is just as important as the mental attraction. They bring balance to the relationship.

Sex is essential for a successful and happy marriage.
If you're not having an active and interesting sex life one or the other partner may end up having an affair due to lack of satisfaction.
It may be possible for SOME people to live without but certainly not myself.

I think it is possible to have a marriage with no sex....sex is important to most people and it is the way to express love to another....I suppose a marriage could last without sex if both people are asexual....

The only marriage I know of that is similar to this would be a type of religion that I cannot remember the name of....it grants that you only have intercourse on the right time of the month during ovulation in order to conceive a child and that is it. If you have it for other reasons it is a sin.

Ive learned that once women get married they dont want sex anymore....fine, but their husbands do! Im guessing as long as a woman's emotional and financial needs are set that she doesnt worry much about sex anymore. Its different witha man though...a man constantly wants it and he will get it regardless.

when there is no love in the marriage then you shouldn't have S but you should be discussing this with your partner and not here because this concerns you both.
