this ambition is part of the so-called New American Century.
I wondered how people feel about this. Should the US be congratulated for having a goal in life, or should it keep its nose out of other countries and try to get its own house in order?

some people on here asking for sources: here's one to be going on with. www.newamericancentury.org (a think tank containing many members of the US govt) says, among other things, and I precis,
"American leadership is good …for the world… such leadership requires military strength… a foreign policy that boldly promotes American principles abroad… preserving and extending an international order friendly to our security… we need to increase defense spending significantly… we need to challenge regimes hostile to our interests and values"

If its for the good of America and allows American's to get cheap gas & tv's then they really don't care how it's done. Only as long as its on the other side of the world and you have the poor to fight the fight for ya.

American's in general only care about themselves and the only thing that matters to them is them.

I know all about the New American Century. I think it's really sad. They are a lot of brilliant, hardworking and loving people in the country and we could be a major leader in invention and ingenuity, instead we are squandering these minds and the US government is discredited and disrespected around the world. Maybe, just maybe things will get better and we will "get our house in order" with a new president. We'll see.

Also, I'm sure they are people that have no friggin' idea what you're going on about, so a link or two would be really helpful!

Upon consultation of my good friend Mr Google, i discovered this site:

It would appear that you are right, and i propose we congratulate them for having a goal in life, but keep a wary eye on them... much like you would a child...

"American leadership is good both for America and for the world"

The US is all the people that are citizens in it and most of them do not want total global domination of land, sea, and space? Most of us just want "World Peace". We are a free country that is of the people and for the people.... We try to help other countries, not dominate them and control them. We try to help the hungry, hurt and persecuted all over the world and make land, sea and space safe for all.

The US has intervened in over 70 countries since the Second World War, it doesn't exactly have a great track record. As for "having a goal in life", er- well, so did Hitler and Stalin...

This is what the UN is for.

The US has not stated its aim is for total global domination. Such nonsense!

We will happily keep our troops, money, food, medical supplies, and humanitarian aid all to ourselves if that's what you want.

Could you give us a link to where this is stated? We won't have to worry about it when extremist groups wipe us off the map, which is their aim!
