Ahh bless him, well it depends, sure it gets a bit harder as you grow up but as I've got older I'm happy with the way life is, you can do what you like and you don't really care what anyone thinks anymore. And life is what you make it, and I'm sure this little fellow will work that one out, he sounds smart to me.

My grandson isn't 4 yet and is up early every day to go to pre-school. He has a daily job to do, even homework at night. He ends up overtired and cranky by the weekend. I really don't know what to feel about this, except to say, it seems something has been lost.
I end up saying that about other "progressive" developments that I have observed.
It also makes me feel helpless, because all I can show him is the "old" stuff. I don't know what to offer him in the way of advice for the future.
He seems very smart and energetic so I guess he will probably be OK.

Your grandson does have a point. The world today is not like the world I grew up in or the one I raised my daughter in either. My granddaughters have not posed thought provoking questions to me yet but my daughter has.
She now realizes how easy her childhood had been. She asks "How did you do it? I thought being an adult would be so great. But it's work, work, work...where is the fun?" I explained that fun does not come to you on a silver platter. You have to see it, seek it, and create it for yourself and your children.
Regardless of the generation it all comes down to perceptions and choices. 8:)

No, I dont. I think it gets harder as you get older. With age comes more work, and more responsibility. It sucks. Hopefully, he will stay a child for a while, and only have to grow up at the last possible minute

It gets easier and harder.
Easier-you don't have as many unexpected things happening to you, like puberty
Harder-the unexpected things that do happen are worse, like cancer
Easier-you can drive!
Harder-people want you to drive them places
Easier-you don't have to sit in school 7.5 hours a day
Harder-you have to be at a job for 8 hours a day, which is often more boring than school. Oh yeah-and they expect you to spell correctly
Easier-you have more control of your enivronment/finances/living situation/relationships
Harder-you have more control of your environment/finances/living situation/relationships
I could do this all day, but I won't!

the older you get the more responsablities you have and the more knowledge you have to have to keep up at least in school you just have to go and learn as much as possible but if you slack a bit your teacher can always catch you up on somethings when you are an adult if you slack behind or forget something you can get fined or charged and cost you LOTs of MONEY

Yeah, everything gets harder as you get older. So much more to learn. Sounds like a bright kid though, I doubt he'll be behind others.

It's hard work
being a kid you know
So much to do
and places to go
Going to school
and keeping up with friends
So much to do
it seemingly never ends
Please don't let them
grow up to fast
Too soon they will
find out at last
That being a kid is
hard work you see
But being grown up
requires responisbility
Children wish
they could be grownups now
but grownups wish to be
a child again somehow

Although I am a sophmore in high school I am a kid at heart and am sometimes overwhelmed at the responsibilies I am given. But I grin and bear it because I know how to handle them maturely.

life gets harder as the days go by...but you need the lessons you learn in life to make you the person you are "you live and you learn"
